ABOUT

VASHAUN

HEYO!

Originally from South Boston, Virginia, Vashaun (vāy-sean) Brandon is a Richmond-based artist, illustrator, and designer with a passion for visual storytelling. A graduate of Christopher Newport University with a background in business marketing and political science, his creative journey began outside the traditional arts, eventually leading him to a career in design. Today, he works as a brand designer at Campfire & Co., where he brings thoughtful ideas to life through branding, visual identities, and environmental graphics.

Beyond his professional work, Vashaun's personal art practice is rooted in a fascination with the many ways we communicate through our hands. From small, everyday gestures to moments of celebration and connection, his work explores the expressive nature of movement and touch. Through bold colors, simplified geometric forms, and rhythmic compositions, he transforms familiar hand gestures into playful abstractions that feel both recognizable and unexpected.

Influenced by his background in graphic design, Vashaun approaches each canvas with an appreciation for shape, balance, and intentionality. Hard lines, vibrant colors, and repeating forms create a distinct visual language where hands become characters, each telling a story without words. His work is an ongoing exploration of how something as simple as a gesture can convey so much.

At its heart, Vashaun's art is a celebration of human connection, creativity, and the joy found in everyday moments. Through each piece, he hopes to invite a sense of curiosity, spark a smile, and encourage viewers to find their own meaning in the gestures they recognize.
